7th Sense Design creates visual flying-ride at Nanchang Wanda Cultural Tourism City, China

Media technology specialist 7th Sense has created a series of visual experiences for the Nanchang Wanda Cultural Tourism City in the capital of China’s Jiangxi Province.

The specialist software and hardware company supplied uncompressed, high frame rate and extreme resolution media serving technologies to three experiences inside the Nanchang Wanda Park; The ‘Flyover Jiangxi’ Flying Ride Theatre, VASE (the Flying Theatre pre-show) and the 12-metre full dome auditorium at the Nanchang Wanda Ocean Park – reportedly the world’s biggest aquarium.

The brand new Wanda Cultural Tourism City includes an indoor theme park, Nanchang Wanda Park, shopping mall with an indoor ocean park, Nanchang Wanda Ocean Park, entertainment attractions, hotels and dining districts. The attraction is the size of a city at 200 hectares, (2 km sq).

‘Flyover Jiangxi’ uses eight Christie D4K3560 3DLP projectors onto two domed-screen flying ride experiences – all driven and controlled by four 7thSense Delta Infinity Media Servers.

Separately, a huge 10-channel projection mapped display covers the surface of a giant vase, keeping flying ride pre-show queues entertained - powered by Delta Media Server.

Within the Ocean Park aquarium, a centrepiece attraction – the digital fulldome auditorium – features 12 projected channels of high resolution, high frame rate, uncompressed media playback from Delta Infinity Media Servers.

7thSense’s reseller and distributor for China, Wincomn, led the technology system design and integration for these projects.

Hansen Yang, deputy general manager and head of cultural tourism at Wincomn said: “We are using the 7thSense Delta Media Server range increasingly in theme park installations, such as those at Wanda Movie Park, Hefei Wanda Theme Park, Tianyang Grand Sphere, Oriental Salk Lake City, Canal Paradise and Zhuhai Chimelong.”

Wanda Cultural Tourism City is the first of the Wanda’s fifteen planned theme park and entertainment projects in China. The complex has forecast an annual attendance of 10 million. The park’s grand opening took place on 28 May 2016.
